Fifty Eight more days!

“You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.”

René Daumal (author of Mount Analogue: A Tale of Non-Euclidean and Symbolically Authentic Mountaineering)

I found this quote today. So appropriate!

This weekend I will hike in the Sierras with my son and our dogs. That’s all I know. He is planning it.

Exciting that I might see a dear friend that I met in Australia in 2020, just before the pandemic, during my trek. He is doing Three Passes going clockwise and I am doing EBC which is counterclockwise.

It would be incredible to pass on the trail.
